Position Summary

Edge Core Tech is seeking a hands-on CAD/CAM & CNC Programmer with practical manufacturing experience to join our growing sheet-metal fabrication operation.

This position is responsible for reviewing engineering drawings, preparing and modifying part files, developing CNC programs, and supporting the efficient release of production-ready jobs to the shop floor. The role requires a solid foundation in manufacturing processes, the ability to work independently on familiar tasks, and a willingness to learn new equipment and software as needed.

The ideal candidate has prior CNC programming experience, understands how engineering drawings translate into manufactured parts, and takes pride in producing accurate programs that minimize delays, scrap, and rework.

This is a collaborative position offering opportunities to expand technical skills across multiple manufacturing processes while contributing to a growing programming team.

Key Responsibilities

CAD/CAM & Program Development

Review engineering drawings, part prints, and job documentation for completeness and manufacturability.
Create, edit, and prepare CAD files and CNC programs for production.
Review individual components and sub-jobs associated with larger assemblies or customer orders.
Prepare programs and supporting documentation in a timely, organized manner.
Identify drawing discrepancies, missing information, and potential manufacturing issues before releasing jobs to production.
Make appropriate manufacturing-related adjustments within established engineering and customer requirements.

CNC Programming & Manufacturing Support

Develop and modify programs for CNC sheet-metal fabrication equipment based on experience and training.
Support laser cutting, turret punching, and press-brake operations as qualified.
Evaluate part features and manufacturing requirements when adapting parts for different production processes.
Understand material requirements, tooling limitations, cutting and bending operations, and efficient material utilization.
Assist with program verification, troubleshooting, and corrections when production issues arise.
Collaborate with machine operators and production personnel to resolve programming and manufacturability concerns.

Teamwork & Continuous Improvement

Work collaboratively with other programming team members to balance workload and maintain production readiness.
Share technical knowledge, document solutions, and support cross-training.
Identify opportunities to improve programming turnaround, accuracy, consistency, and production efficiency.
Maintain organized program files, revisions, and supporting documentation.
Communicate job status, priorities, and potential delays to the appropriate team members.
Continue developing proficiency with additional machines, software, and manufacturing processes.

Required Qualifications

Prior hands-on experience creating, modifying, or troubleshooting CNC programs in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing specifications.
Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and digital part files.
Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling, material requirements, and production constraints.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage assigned work, recognize problems, and seek clarification when necessary.
Willingness to collaborate, share knowledge, receive feedback, and continue learning.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in sheet-metal fabrication or metal manufacturing.
CNC laser-cutting or turret-punch programming experience.
Experience with press-brake programming or sheet-metal bending processes.
Familiarity with SolidWorks or comparable CAD software.
Experience with AMADA equipment or programming software.
Experience with nesting, tooling selection, program verification, or production optimization.
Exposure to CNC milling or G-code programming.

Experience with every machine or software package used at ECT is not required. Candidates with a strong foundation in relevant manufacturing programming skills and the ability to learn additional systems are encouraged to apply.

What Success Looks Like

Production-ready programs are completed accurately and efficiently.
Programming delays and avoidable corrections are reduced.
Drawing and manufacturability issues are identified before they disrupt production.
Assigned work is handled with increasing independence and consistent follow-through.
Programming team members communicate effectively and support one another.
Technical skills continue to expand as production needs evolve.
