A&P Mechanic – General Aviation & ISR Aircraft

Nimbus | Beaufort, NC (on-site) | Full-time | Starting at $25 per hour

About Nimbus

Nimbus is a Part 135 flight operation and Part 145 repair station based at Michael J. Smith Field in Beaufort, NC. We fly aerial survey missions, including marine mammal conservation work along the East Coast. We also design and build custom ISR modifications for aircraft, from structural design and installation through flight testing and FAA certification. Our shop maintains our own fleet of piston aircraft (Cessna 172, 206, 337 and O-2A) and customer airplanes.

The Role

We're looking for A&P mechanics who enjoy general aviation and want more than routine inspections. You'll work on a hands-on team where you're trusted to diagnose problems, find solutions and see the job through. This is a chance to make above-average pay in GA while getting experience most mechanics never see: sensor installs, structural mods and certification work.

What You'll Do

- Perform annual, 100-hour and progressive inspections on single- and twin-engine piston aircraft

- Troubleshoot and repair airframe, powerplant, electrical and avionics systems

- Support custom modification projects: fabrication, installation, wiring and structural work

- Support maintenance and payload integration on our unmanned aircraft (UAV) platforms

- Assist with flight testing and certification paperwork for new installations

- Maintain accurate logbook entries and repair station records

- Keep aircraft mission-ready for survey season

- Travel opportunities to support survey missions and aircraft operations at locations across the East Coast and beyond

What We're Looking For

- FAA Airframe & Powerplant certificate (required)

- Interest in general aviation and smaller piston aircraft

- Ability to diagnose and solve problems independently

- Strong attention to detail and documentation

- Experience with Cessna singles or twins (preferred)

- Avionics, wiring or sheet metal experience (a plus)

- Inspection Authorization (a plus)

- Valid driver's license

- Ability to pass a DOT/FAA pre-employment drug test and background check

Pay & Benefits

- Starting at $25 per hour, with increases based on experience and performance

- Full benefits package

- Paid training and professional development

- Opportunities to grow into lead, inspector and project roles
