Job description

Friesen’s Inc is hiring a Band Saw Operator to cut and process raw materials with precision and care. This role involves operating various saws, adjusting laser settings, programming auto-feeds, and making accurate compound and miter cuts based on blueprints. Candidates should have a basic understanding of blade speed/feed rate, math skills for measuring, and the ability to identify metal types. Forklift experience is preferred, and the ability to lift up to 75 lbs is required. We offer training for the right candidate looking to grow in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain various saws used at Friesen’s, including band saws
Adjust and dial in saw lasers, and bundle cut material
Program the auto-feed of the saws
Accurately measure, cut, compound, and double-miter angles using raw materials to specified dimensions, using work orders or blueprints
Safely troubleshoot electrical and mechanical errors in the saws, and change saw blades safely when necessary
Safely operate a forklift to transport raw materials and cut parts to and from the saw area, and safely use the crane and hoist system
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area

Skills and Qualifications

Experience operating band saws and other cutting equipment in a manufacturing environment is preferred, but we will provide training to the right candidate.
Knowledge of how blade speed and feed rate correlate with each other for the longevity of saw blades
Knowledge of Lockout Tagout Procedures (LOTO)
Basic mathematical knowledge of fractions and decimals
Identify various types of sizes and metals
Forklift certified or ability to become certified upon hire
Able to lift up to 75 lbs. and stand for extended periods
High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred)

Shifts

1st shift: Monday – Friday 6:30 am – 3:00 pm

Pay Frequency
Biweekly

Expected hours: 40 per week
