Location: Nationwide
Job No.: 20260304002
Welcome to the Skyler Legacy!
Skyler Design Build, LLC (“Skyler”) is a national builder specializing in healthcare, technically demanding environments, and mission-critical construction where precision, speed, operational continuity, and delivering on time matter most.
Our teams work inside active hospitals and complex medical facilities, delivering projects such as:
- surgical suite renovations
- sterile processing upgrades
- infrastructure modernization
- imaging suite installations
- emergency response and restoration
- mission-critical facility upgrades
We are seeking a Project Manager who is a builder first and a manager second, someone who takes ownership of projects and thrives in technically demanding environments.
This role is regionally based in Denver, Austin, Nashville, or Houston, with occasional travel to a road warrior depending on the office and project needs.
What Makes Healthcare Construction Different
Healthcare construction is not typical commercial construction.
Projects occur inside active hospitals where patients, surgeons, and medical staff depend on operational continuity.
Successful PMs understand how to manage:
- ICRA and infection control protocols
- strict life safety and regulatory requirements
- tight shutdown windows for critical infrastructure
- complex coordination with hospital operations
- projects where mistakes can impact patient care
Healthcare construction requires precision, discipline, and calm leadership under pressure.
Your Role
The Project Manager oversees the full lifecycle of hospital construction projects, including:
- project scoping and feasibility
- conceptual estimating and budgeting
- design collaboration and constructability review
- subcontractor procurement and coordination
- construction execution and schedule management
- commissioning and system turnover
- warranty and maintenance support
You will work closely with Superintendents, estimators, engineers, and healthcare clients to deliver complex projects safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
- Manage healthcare construction projects from concept through closeout
- Coordinate owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Support field execution alongside Superintendents
- Maintain schedule, cost control, and project documentation
Preconstruction & Estimating Support
- Assist with conceptual estimating and budgeting
- Review drawings, specifications, and constructability
- Support scope development and bid coordination
- Identify gaps and risk early in project development
Project Controls
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and pay applications
- Track project financial performance and forecasts
- Maintain disciplined documentation and reporting
Client & Team Leadership
- Maintain strong relationships with healthcare clients
- Support development of new project opportunities
- Coordinate subcontractors and project stakeholders
The Builder We’re Looking For
At Skyler, our best Project Managers share several traits:
- Ownership mindset: they take responsibility for project outcomes
- Field-first leadership: they support jobsite execution
- Strong financial awareness: they understand cost, margin, and forecasting
- Clear communication: they align teams and clients
- Problem-solving ability: they thrive in complex environments
- Operational discipline: they keep projects organized and documented
If you prefer a slow-paced environment or minimal accountability, this role will not be a good fit.
If you enjoy leading challenging projects that require precision and urgency, you will likely thrive here.
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a Project Manager in healthcare construction
- 5+ years total construction experience
- Experience managing projects in active hospitals or mission-critical environments
- Ability to read drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Experience with scheduling, cost control, and subcontractor coordination
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Preferred Experience
- hospital renovations and upgrades
- operating rooms, imaging suites, or sterile processing
