Responsibilities

Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues on marine vessels using schematics and technical manuals
Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on engines, hulls, rigging, and other vessel systems
Utilize hand tools, power tools, soldering irons, calipers, and precision measuring instruments to complete repairs accurately
Read and interpret schematics and technical drawings to facilitate assembly, fabrication, or troubleshooting tasks
Conduct heavy lifting and rigging operations safely while adhering to safety protocols
Maintain detailed service records, including inspection reports and repair logs
Communicate effectively with customers to explain repairs needed and provide maintenance recommendations

Skills

Proven experience as a service technician with strong mechanical knowledge of marine systems or similar fields
Ability to read schematics and technical diagrams for electrical and mechanical troubleshooting
Electrical experience including wiring, soldering, use of ohmmeters, and troubleshooting electrical circuits
Skilled in rigging, fabrication, sheet metal work, welding, trailers and vehicle maintenance.
Proficiency with Mercury G3, hand tools, power tools, heavy lifting equipment, calipers, soldering irons, and maintenance tools
Knowledge of assembly processes and the use of precision measuring instruments for accurate repairs
Customer service skills with the ability to clearly communicate technical information to clients
Familiarity with maintenance procedures for marine vessels or heavy machinery is highly desirable
Ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced environments while maintaining safety standards
Communicate clearly with customers: explain findings, options, and results without excuses or guesswork.
Work efficiently under pressure while maintaining quality—boats are down, customers are waiting, and details matter.
