Duties and Responsibilities:

- Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
- Checking finished work to make sure that it falls within the tolerances marked on the blueprints
- Determine the appropriate equipment or method based on requirements
- Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
- Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
- Operate various powered tools to repair and finish various base materials and weldments.
- Align components using calipers, rulers and other measuring devices
- Setup weldments and assemblies using fixturing and fixturing tables with clamps and other methods.
- Weld components using manual, semi-automatic and automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead).
- Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws
- Able to use multiple thermal cutting processes, such as plasma arc, oxyfuel gas, and carbon arc gouging.
- Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
- Shall have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in an occupational function with a direct relationship to weldments fabricated to national or international standards. Experienced in the SMAW, GTAW and GMAW processes for various carbon steels, low alloy steels, stainless steels and aluminum.
- Alternatives to years of experience, with supporting documentation (e.g., copies of transcripts or letters of reference specifying earned credit hours of training) may be substituted as follows:
- Two years post-high school education in welding curriculum and a minimum of six months experience in welding functions where multiple welding processes and materials are used.
- Shall be able to complete welding qualifications in accordance with NAVSEA and/or AWS standards.

- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be a US Citizen to perform work on this contract
- Depending on the level of position, may require inventory work, which also requires some basic computer skills

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Sit for prolonged periods of time with continual movement of hands, arms, and fingers for sewing operations. Often handles pieces of fabric that are consistently heavy and bulky. Work involves continuous standing and walking on concrete floors, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching above heads and occasionally working in irregular body postures while sewing. Lifting: This position has a requirement to lift 40lbs. - 70 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.

This position requires a 4/10 work schedule, working 4 days per week and 10 hours per day. This position is part of an SCA Government contract. Pay rates, paid time off and fringe pay to be used for benefits are set forth according to the specific SCA contract.
