Overview:
The Senior Refrigeration Technician will lead installations, total equipment maintenance, and repair of basic and complex Oasis cooling systems, including facility, freezers and chillers. The senior technician will assist maintenance manager in maintaining a safe and fully functional and reliable equipment system. Diagnose complex mechanical/electrical issues, ensure EPA compliance, optimize energy efficiency, and mentor junior technician while operating independently.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- System Maintenance & Repair: Perform advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, and overhauls on commercial refrigeration equipment, including compressors, evaporators, condensers, and electrical control devices.
- Installation & Startup: Lead the installation, testing, and commissioning of new refrigeration units and systems.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Diagnose complex issues involving refrigeration, PLC controllers, and electrical circuits.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all work meets OSHA, EPA, and company safety regulations regarding hazardous gases and equipment handling.
- Preventative Maintenance: Implement preventative maintenance programs to extend equipment life, including monitoring, testing, and adjusting systems.
- Leadership & Support: Mentor junior technician, train new staff, and assist with supervising subcontractors.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate repair logs, work orders, and inventory records using X5 CMMS software.
· Mid-to advanced-level refrigeration technician responsible for ongoing preventive maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of all refrigeration-related equipment, such as compressors, condensers, and evaporators.
· Electrical troubleshooting and repair skills are required. Must have working knowledge of multimeter.
· Ability to identify early-stage indicators of wear or damage and correct before major failure occurs. Working knowledge and experience using refrigeration gauges is required.
· Must be able to assist in development and follow a routine schedule for monitoring and preventive maintenance on the proper frequency.
· . Responsible for ensuring proper start-up and stable performance conditions during plant start-up after power outage or planned shutdown.
· Complete assigned work order paperwork and daily logs as required. Ability to take accurate measurements and maintain paperwork throughout shift.
Skills and Qualifications:
· 5+ years of experience working with industrial refrigeration equipment / systems.
· Must possess necessary certification including Universal EPA Certification.
· Responsible for responding to off-hour calls if emergency or major unplanned shutdown occurs
· Ability to work independently, attention to detail, and possess necessary qualifications or gain quickly through company paid training.
· Job assignments are subject to the supervisor’s discretion, and job duties may vary day-to-day depending on department needs.
· Ability to communicate effectively and follow verbal and written instructions & policies
Other Requirements
· Must be willing and able to perform physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to work in extreme temperature conditions, some below -20 degrees, some above 115 degrees. May work in damp, cold, hot, and warm environments. Work with loud and noisy machinery.
· Operating hand held and/or mechanical machinery.
· Preventive maintenance is often scheduled on plant down days or Saturdays/Sundays.
- 5 day work weeks (6 and 7 days on occasion).
- Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States Must pass a background check, drug screen and pre-employment physical.
- Must be able to obtain a forklift / aerial lift driver’s license
- Ability to work flexible workday and hours schedule
- Able to read/write/communicate in English preferred, bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus
Pay: $36.00 - $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
