Responsibilities
- Install, service, and repair HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and ventilation systems using schematics and technical manuals.
- Diagnose mechanical issues using tools such as ohmmeters and other diagnostic equipment to identify electrical or mechanical faults accurately.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on HVAC equipment to ensure efficiency and longevity; this includes cleaning filters, inspecting components, and replacing worn parts.
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and HVAC design plans to facilitate precise installation and troubleshooting procedures.
- Conduct plumbing tasks related to HVAC systems such as pipe fitting, drainage connections, and ammonia refrigeration setups when necessary.
- Utilize welding skills for repairs or modifications of ductwork or metal components as needed.
- Maintain detailed service logs, inspection reports, and maintenance records to ensure compliance with safety standards and client requirements.
- Operate vehicles safely as a driver when traveling between job sites; adhere to all traffic laws and company policies during field service operations.
- Assist with property maintenance tasks related to HVAC systems to support overall building functionality.
- Collaborate with team members on complex projects involving HVAC/R (refrigeration) systems or mechanical installations requiring specialized knowledge.
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in HVAC installation, repair, and maintenance.
- Proficiency reading schematics, blueprints, and HVAC design documents for accurate system setup and troubleshooting.
- Experience with refrigeration systems including ammonia refrigeration is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of plumbing practices related to HVAC applications; familiarity with appliance repair is a plus.
- Ability to operate diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters effectively for electrical testing.
- Field service experience working directly on-site with clients in commercial or residential settings.
- Skilled in equipment repair including boilers, air conditioning units, ventilation fans, and other mechanical components.
- Welding expertise for ductwork fabrication or repairs involving metal components.
- Mechanical aptitude combined with property maintenance skills to support overall building operations.
