Must-Have Qualifications

Minimum 3+ years of experience installing, commissioning, or supporting Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS)
Hands-on experience with Metasys tools (RAC Schedule, CCT, SCT)
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical systems, and building controls
Experience with control system programming, hardware design, and commissioning
Ability to read and develop control diagrams, electrical schematics, and system layouts
Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills
Experience using computer-aided drafting tools and engineering software

BMS / BAS Hardware Engineer – Building Automation & HVAC Controls

A leading global provider of smart building and HVAC control solutions is seeking a BMS / BAS Hardware Engineer to support projects across the Connecticut and Western Massachusetts region. This role focuses on the design, programming, and commissioning of building automation and HVAC control systems.

The position works closely with project managers, contractors, consultants, and customers to ensure control systems are properly designed, implemented, and commissioned according to project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Design hardware and control systems for building automation and HVAC control applications
Develop flow diagrams, sequence of operations, network layouts, electrical schematics, and bills of materials
Program control systems following established engineering and programming standards
Coordinate development of drawings, documentation, and equipment schedules required for project submittals
Select, order, and track project materials and components
Support system startup and commissioning, including loading controllers and configuring network devices
Validate system performance and troubleshoot issues with subcontractors and installation teams
Document field changes and maintain accurate as-built drawings and software records
Prepare system documentation and operational manuals
Provide technical updates to project managers and clients regarding system performance and project progress
Assist with training for building owners and operators on system operation
Complete project documentation including field reports, time sheets, and expense reports
Maintain strict adherence to company safety standards and jobsite safety requirements
Respond to basic warranty service calls when necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
OR 5+ years of experience in HVAC controls, BAS/BMS systems, or building automation
Experience designing or evaluating mechanical and electrical building systems
Experience installing or commissioning building automation and controls systems

Compensation & Benefits
