Job description:
Barrett Tree Service East is a local, employee-owned tree and lawn care company specializing in offering expert tree care solutions and lawn care to our clients. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a skilled and experienced Diesel Mechanic to execute repair and maintenance of our vehicle fleet to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations.
Responsibilities:
Diagnose vehicle/equipment with mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues; utilize computer diagnostics for trouble shooting; respond to calls in the field for emergency repair of equipment.
- Work independently and efficiently with minimal supervisor with a self-motivated mindset with a focus on task completion
- Welding and metal fabrication
- Hydraulic and pneumatic troubleshooting and repair
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance including oil changes and tune-ups
- Demonstrate ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple assignments to meet deadlines
- Exercise problem solving/critical thinking skills while portraying a position, professional and welcoming image for Barrett Tree Service East
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience working with heavy truck/equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics and diesel experience
- Experience with electrical systems/troubleshooting, proficiency with computer diagnostics
- Must have own set of tools
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position. Lifting, bending, etc.
- Successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen, DOT physical, driving record and background screen
- Possess a valid Massachusetts driver’s license (class D or higher) in good standing- Class A or B preferred.
- Hoisting License preferred (1b – crane operator, 2a/1c – excavators, bobcats (small equipment)
- Must be reliable and able to work in a team environment
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
Education:
- Required: High School diploma / vocational training / GED
- Professional Certification – dependent on years of experience

Pay: $30.00 - $50.00 per hour
