Position: HVAC Purchasing Agent

Location: Corporate Office and Distribution Center, New Bedford, MA

General Company Information: Plumbers’ Supply Company (www.plumberssupplyco.com) is a growth oriented, privately held plumbing and heating wholesaler with 17 branch locations and 3 retail showrooms throughout Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire. We are currently seeking a highly skilled, results-oriented individual to join our team.

Position Overview: You will provide support for day-to-day operating activities of the company primarily through product procurement and supply chain management. In this position, you will have the opportunity to interact with high-level branch personnel and members of senior management on a daily basis.

Responsibilities:

Monitor inventory levels to ensure appropriate in-stock quantities to maintain customer service levels
Negotiate contracts and purchases with current and potential suppliers
Identify products with the best combination of quality and price
Develop purchasing strategies to increase company profitability
Work with receiving department and suppliers to resolve shipping discrepancies and damage

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Strong attention to detail
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Ability to multitask and collaborate across functions
Strong communication and negotiation skills
Familiarity with plumbing and heating products is highly desirable
