Position Summary:
Scalish Construction is seeking a skilled Carpenter to support our residential and commercial construction projects. This role is responsible for performing a wide range of carpentry tasks including framing, installation, and finish work while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency on every job site. This role reports to the Carpenter Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications
- Perform rough and finish carpentry including framing, drywall, doors, hardware, and trim
- Measure, cut, and install materials accurately and efficiently
- Assist with layout and ensure work aligns with project plans
- Maintain quality workmanship that meets Scalish Construction standards
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations
- Keep job sites clean, organized, and professional
- Work collaboratively with foremen, supervisors, and other trades
- Identify and communicate job site challenges or material needs
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of carpentry experience (commercial experience preferred)
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and construction documents
- Strong knowledge of carpentry tools, materials, and methods
- Solid attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry materials (50+ lbs)
- Comfortable working at heights and in various weather conditions
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and perform physical labor throughout the day
Preferred Qualifications:
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification
- Experience in commercial construction environments
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Work Environment:
- Commercial and residential construction job sites
- Indoor and outdoor work in varying conditions
- Full-time position with potential overtime based on project demands
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to move around construction sites or office environments as needed.
- Occasionally required to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25–50 pounds, such as project plans, equipment, or samples.
- Frequent use of hands to handle, feel, and operate objects, tools, or controls.
- Regular typing or computer use for extended periods.
- Good visual acuity for reading plans, computer screens, and detailed reports.
- Ability to see close, at a distance, and peripherally, and to adjust focus as required for inspections or monitoring project progress.
Travel
- Regular travel between different construction sites, both local and regional.
- Occasional travel for meetings, training, or site inspections at remote locations.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to commute between job sites.
