Hourly Rate: $19/per hour
SUMMARY:
Blasting and Coatings Worker works under general supervision of the Production Lead and or Supervision.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities.
- Verify surfaces are clean before applying coatings or blasting in accordance with the plans and specifications.
- Applicators also must be capable of adjusting equipment and application techniques as dictated by the type of blast or coating requirements, weather conditions, environment, size, and shape of surface being blasted or coated.
- Read job numbers, log time and date when work is performed and completed.
- Inspect work pieces to determine work procedures and materials required.
- Examine finished surfaces of work pieces to verify conformance to specifications.
- When not painting or blasting the Painter/Blaster shall square poles, use overhead cranes, perform general labor duties at the discretion of supervision.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Ability to read and write (Bi-Lingual Spanish is an asset).
- Ability to inspect product to determine compliance with the drawings and the Companies standard inspection and quality standards.
- Ability to read, interpret, and communicate to others drawing and specification requirements.
- Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
- Ability to operate a wide variety of manufacturing equipment utilized in the fabrication of structural steel.
- Ability to become certified in those pieces of equipment or tools where required.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions on the use of appropriate tools and applications techniques.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Successful candidate must submit to post offer, pre-employment physical examination/medical history check.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
- Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, biohazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and loud noises.
- Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; lifting, pushing or pulling of objects up to 50 pounds.
- Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and that will include the use of protective equipment.
