Responsibilities
- Assist with preparation of materials and work areas, ensuring safety and cleanliness on construction or manufacturing sites
- Learn to operate welding equipment such as MIG, TIG, FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and welding techniques under supervision
- Support fabrication tasks including cutting, grinding, assembly, and fitting of metal components using hand tools and power tools
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to understand project specifications
- Use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures to ensure precision in fabrication and assembly
- Participate in rigging, pipe threading, plasma cutting, press brake operations, and sheet metal work as part of training modules
- Follow safety protocols related to construction sites, welding procedures, ASME codes & standards, and equipment handling
Skills
- Basic knowledge of construction site safety practices and protocols
- Familiarity with welding techniques including MIG, TIG, FCAW, plasma cutting, and welding methods
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and mechanical drawings accurately
- Proficiency with hand tools such as grinders, wrenches, screwdrivers; power tools including drills and saws
- Understanding of fabrication processes involving sheet metal, ductwork, pipe threading, and assembly
- Mechanical aptitude with knowledge of rigging operations and basic math skills for measurements and calculations
- Experience or familiarity with construction or manufacturing environments is a plus but not required; eagerness to learn is essential
