POSITION SUMMARY:
The Fitter is responsible for cutting and fitting pipe or structural materials for welders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Align parts using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars and hammers
- Mark reference points onto floor or face block and transpose them to workpiece
- Give directions to welder to build up low spots or short pieces with weld
- Straighten warped or bent parts using sledge, hand torch, straightening press or bulldozer
- Remove high spots and cut bevels using hand files, portable grinders and cutting torch
- Examine blueprints and plan sequence of operation, applying knowledge of geometry, effects of heat, weld shrinkage,
machining and metal thickness
- Tack weld fitted parts together
- Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, bolt straps or bolt parts in position for welding
- Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings and related equipment according to specifications by welding, brazing, cementing,
soldering and threading joints
- Put all information on the pipe before cutting and transfer all item numbers onto cut sheet and carry over item numbers to drop
pipe
- Ensure all numbers are clear and point to the right material when fabricating spool sheets
- Check measurements to assure they match with drawing and obtain approval from quality control department
- Inspect, examine and test installed systems and pipe lines using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing, observation or other
methods
- Plan pipe system layout, installation or repair according to specifications
- Read and understand blue prints and ISO’s
- Obey and follow all safety rules and policies
- Wear all appropriate safety equipment (PPE)
- Perform all other duties as assigned by manager and/or supervisor
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma or equivalent education
- 1+ years of fitting experience in an industrial setting
- Basic written and verbal skills
- Must have the ability to perform work accurately
- Must be reliable and have good time management skills
- For new hires, must meet all Performance Energy Services employment qualifications in force at time of hiring, including
successful completion of a background investigation and pre-employment drug screen
- For new hires, must successfully complete all required training by Performance Energy Services
