Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Tack Welder/Team Leader to join our manufacturing and fabrication team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee welding operations, lead a team of skilled welders, and ensure the highest standards of quality and safety are maintained throughout all projects. Your expertise in various welding techniques, fabrication processes, and mechanical knowledge will drive efficiency and excellence on the shop floor. Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of welders, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure productivity and quality standards are met.
- Perform tack welding using MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and welding techniques on diverse materials including sheet metal and pipe components.
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately execute fabrication tasks.
- Operate power tools, hand tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment safely and efficiently.
- Conduct precise measurements using calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools to ensure components meet specifications.
- Manage rigging, pipe threading, assembly, and ductwork installation with mechanical knowledge and adherence to ASME codes & standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized work environment while adhering to safety protocols; conduct routine inspections of welding equipment such as cranes and forklifts.
- Collaborate with team members on fabrication projects involving machining, soldering, plasma cutting, schematics interpretation, and assembly processes.
Skills
- Proven construction site experience with a strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures.
- Expertise in MIG welding, TIG welding, FCAW welding techniques; proficiency in welding preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately.
- Skilled in using calipers, micrometers, hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment.
- Mechanical knowledge related to rigging, pipe threading, machining operations, ductwork installation, and assembly processes.
- Familiarity with ASME codes & standards for manufacturing and pressure vessel fabrication.
- Strong basic math skills for measurements and calculations; experience with schematics interpretation essential.
- Ability to operate forklifts safely; experience with plasma cutting or soldering is a plus.
- Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate a team while maintaining high safety standards; excellent communication skills required.
