JOB
Under general supervision, performs installation, maintenance, repair and related work on street lighting units, flood lighting units, underpass and overpass lighting, bridge and general area lighting; operates all types of equipment necessary for maintenance, repair, and installation of lighting services, and does related work as required.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Installs street lighting and other type units including posts, conduit, wiring, electronic control devices and associated equipment used in lighting streets, parks, playgrounds, overpasses, underpasses, bridges and general area lighting.
Operates all types of equipment needed to install, service and maintain lighting units, including motor vehicles, compressors, drills, cable pulling equipment, hydraulic servicing equipment, special equipment such as lighting booms and devices requiring a high degree of skill and accuracy, and related equipment as required.
Makes frequent inspections, as required, for defective and broken street lighting equipment and makes all types of major and minor repairs including complete replacement of lighting units.
Dissembles, services and repairs various types of electrical and electronic components necessary for street lighting use.
Must have knowledge of basic principles of electricity and use of simple lighting and wiring diagrams including use of various meters such as ampmeters, voltmeters, watt-hour meter, and allied equipment
