We are looking for passionate, energetic new teammates to join our Hampton Chrome team. The ideal candidate for this position has a background in mass manufacturing and is capable of lifting heavy objects, using pneumatics to move metal, and making detailed adjustments to machinery. The candidate works closely with a team of talented associates to manufacture high-quality specialty steel products by utilizing an assortment of tools and machines.
POSITION SUMMARY
Prepares steel rods and/or tubes prior to and after plating by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Reads purchase order to find the required customer specifications.
- Un-package and clean material prior to the plating process.
- Checks the material with a micrometer to determine how much stock need to be removed.
- Selects abrasive belt or wheel according to grain size, type of finish specified, product being polished, or amount of steel to be removed.
- Attaches wheel or belt to polisher heads.
- Starts polisher and manipulates work piece against abrasive belts to remove desired stock.
- Inspects material for holes, pits, or any other imperfections after polishing.
- Repairs any imperfections if needed.
- Operates electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
- Assist in card boarding finished product.
- Clean dust collector daily.
- Helps check and clean bag-house and dumps barrels weekly.
- Operate strip tank.
- Performs all work in a safety conscious manner. Be aware of dangers and take all appropriate counter measures to protect yourself and others around you.
- Responsible to maintain a clean and safe work area consistent with the Company’s housekeeping policies.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED. Prior experience in manufacturing environment preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, blueprints, correspondence and memos in English. Ability to write English correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and small group situations to management and company associates.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Basic skills required as needed to utilize tape measures, micrometers and calipers.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to react and respond positively to change.
