Environmental Systems Inc. We are seeking a skilled Startup Refrigeration Technician to join our growing Startup team and support the installation, commissioning, and testing of commercial and industrial HVAC and refrigeration systems.
Overview
The Startup Refrigeration Technician is responsible for the final installation, startup, testing, and commissioning of refrigeration systems and equipment. This role ensures newly installed systems are properly assembled, leak-free, and operating according to design specifications while collaborating closely with project teams to deliver high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities
· Interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and technical specifications to determine piping layouts and installation sequences.
· Install, assemble, and secure pipes, fittings, valves, and related HVAC components.
· Perform welding, brazing, soldering, threading, and other pipe joining methods.
· Install refrigeration and heat pump equipment as required.
· Conduct pressure testing and inspect systems to identify and repair leaks.
· Start and test installed equipment and complete startup documentation.
· Troubleshoot and repair HVAC refrigeration systems.
· Coordinate with project managers, foremen, and other trades to maintain construction schedules.
· Maintain a safe work environment and follow all OSHA and company safety requirements.
· Wear required PPE and comply with all safety protocols.
Qualifications
- MA and/or RI Journeyman license preferred
· High school diploma or GED.
· 3+ years of commercial or industrial HVAC pipefitting experience.
· EPA Refrigerant Certification.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
· Strong understanding of HVAC piping systems, fittings, and mechanical systems.
· Experience using welding equipment, pipe cutters, threaders, benders, and measuring tools.
· Ability to troubleshoot installation challenges and resolve field conflicts.
· Strong organizational and time-management skills.
· Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
· Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
· OSHA 10 Certification.
· NFPA Hot Work Certification.
