Low Voltage Estimator
Position Summary
The Low Voltage Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and proposals for low voltage systems, including fire alarm, security, access control, CCTV, structured cabling, and other specialty systems. This role analyzes project plans, specifications, and customer requirements to develop competitive bids while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project drawings, specifications, bid documents, and scope requirements.
- Perform quantity takeoffs for low voltage systems and associated materials.
- Prepare detailed labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and miscellaneous cost estimates.
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
- Develop complete bid proposals and pricing packages.
- Identify project risks, exclusions, and value-engineering opportunities.
- Coordinate with project managers, sales teams, engineers, and field personnel during the estimating process.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site walks, and customer meetings as needed with sales personnel.
- Maintain estimating databases, labor units, and pricing information.
- Ensure estimates comply with applicable codes, customer requirements, and company standards.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options.
- Assist in bid preparation and submission, including proposal writing and documentation.
- Stay current with industry standards, codes, and technologies related to fire alarm and other low voltage systems.
- Track bid results and analyze estimate accuracy to improve future performance.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 3+ years of experience in low voltage estimating, project management, design, installation, or related field.
- Knowledge of low voltage systems including:
- Fire Alarm Systems
- Access Control Systems
- Video Surveillance (CCTV)
- Intrusion Detection Systems
- Structured Cabling
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and blueprints.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and time management abilities.
- Understanding of NEC, NFPA, and applicable local codes.
Preferred Qualifications
- NICET certification (Fire Alarm or related discipline).
- Experience working with commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, or government projects.
- Experience with Bluebeam, AlarmCAD, or similar design software helpful

Pay can be negotiated based on experience.

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
