Responsibilities
- Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC equipment including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration systems, and ventilation systems.
- Diagnose complex mechanical issues using schematics, electrical diagnostics tools such as ohmmeters, and system troubleshooting techniques.
- Conduct routine inspections of mechanical systems to ensure optimal operation and compliance with safety standards.
- Repair or replace mechanical components such as motors, compressors, valves, and piping; utilize welding skills when necessary.
- Read and interpret technical schematics and HVAC system diagrams to accurately diagnose issues or plan upgrades.
- Maintain detailed service records, logs of repairs performed, and parts used for each job.
- Support building automation systems (BAS) to optimize energy efficiency and system performance across properties.
- Ensure all work complies with EPA regulations related to refrigerants and environmental safety standards.
- Assist with plumbing tasks related to HVAC systems and perform electrical diagnostics for system troubleshooting.
- Operate equipment such as refrigerant recovery machines or ammonia refrigeration units safely and efficiently.
- Provide excellent field service support by responding promptly to service calls and property maintenance requests.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in HVAC service technician roles with minimum of 5 years preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge including repair of mechanical systems such as boilers, pumps, fans, and refrigeration units.
- Ability to read schematics and technical diagrams accurately; familiarity with HVAC design principles is a plus.
- Experience with electrical diagnostics using tools like ohmmeters; understanding of electrical wiring is essential.
- Knowledge of plumbing systems related to HVAC applications; familiarity with ammonia refrigeration is advantageous.
- Valid EPA certification for refrigerant handling; additional certifications in HVAC/R or building automation are desirable.
- Skilled in equipment repair including welding techniques; experience with boiler maintenance is beneficial.
- Ability to operate field service equipment safely; driver’s license and clear driving record required.
- Mechanical or technical training from accredited programs or apprenticeships is highly valued.

Pay: $23.00 - $38.00 per hour
