Position Description:
Join a dynamic team as a Commercial Maintenance Technician responsible for delivering high-quality maintenance services across multiple commercial properties in Harwood Heights, IL. This contract-to-hire opportunity offers a chance to work with a diverse set of trades, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC. Your role will involve performing preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and general repair work to ensure facilities operate smoothly and maintain a professional and safe environment. You'll directly engage with clients, providing excellent customer service and representing a professional image in every interaction. You’ll utilize modern technology to complete work orders, document services, and communicate effectively. This role is perfect for experienced maintenance professionals eager to apply their skills in a fast-paced, rewarding environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative and reactive maintenance across multiple trades including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC.
- Troubleshoot and repair building systems and equipment efficiently and safely.
- Complete work orders accurately and promptly using digital tools (tablets, smartphones).
- Conduct minor plumbing repairs such as unclogging toilets, replacing fixtures, and maintaining sensors.
- Perform routine painting, drywall patching, and carpentry repairs to uphold facility appearance.
- Handle minor electrical work, including replacing fixtures, switches, and outlets, within legal and safety guidelines.
- Conduct safety and asset inspections; document and report findings.
- Communicate regularly with clients and internal teams to ensure service satisfaction.
- Obtain necessary materials and supplies for job completion.
- Assist with estimates for larger projects and services.
- Participate in safety meetings and complete required safety training.
Top Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; trades certifications or experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or building maintenance preferred.
- 2-5 years of general maintenance experience, including minor electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work.
- Valid driver’s license in good standing.
- Ability to read and interpret safety instructions, maintenance manuals, and work orders.
- Proficiency with handheld devices, work order management systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and safety policies.
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
