Construction Project Manager – Federal Construction & Mission Critical
Infrastructure North Charleston / Sumter, South Carolina
Reliance Construction is seeking a Project Manager to support federal construction, renovation, and mission-critical infrastructure projects throughout South Carolina. This position is responsible for managing projects from preconstruction through closeout, coordinating project teams, maintaining client relationships, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget. The ideal candidate is an organized, self-motivated construction professional who can manage multiple projects, communicate effectively with clients and subcontractors, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, procurement, and overall project execution
- Maintain direct communication with clients, government representatives, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and internal project teams
- Review and interpret federal contract documents, drawings, specifications, and project requirements
- Coordinate project schedules, staffing, procurement activities, and construction sequencing
- Monitor project financial performance including cost tracking, forecasting, billings, change orders, and cash flow management
- Prepare and negotiate subcontract agreements, change orders, RFIs, and project correspondence
- Work closely with field superintendents and quality control personnel to ensure project quality, safety, and schedule objectives are achieved
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements, safety standards, company policies, and federal regulations
- Support preconstruction activities including estimating, budgeting, and proposal development as needed
- Identify project risks and proactively develop solutions to maintain successful project execution
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders
- Ensure project documentation, reporting, and closeout requirements are completed accurately and on time
- Support scheduling efforts utilizing Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or related scheduling platforms
- Travel to project sites and meetings as required
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing commercial, industrial, or construction projects as a Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer, Superintendent, or similar role
- Demonstrated experience managing project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, procurement, and client relationships
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and technical documents
- Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout South Carolina and surrounding areas as required
- Ability to pass background screenings and obtain access to federal facilities and secure project sites
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of Project Management experience
- Experience managing federal, military, or mission-critical construction projects
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field
- Experience with Design-Build, MATOC, SATOC, IDIQ, SABER, or JOC contracts
- Experience with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Procore, or similar construction management software
- Experience managing projects involving secure facilities, critical infrastructure, SCIFs, utility systems, power generation, electrical systems, or specialized MEP construction
- Familiarity with federal construction contracting, government compliance requirements, and contract administration
Pay: $90,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
