Commercial HVAC / Refrigeration Service Technician
Position: Commercial HVAC / Refrigeration Service Technician
Employment Type: Full-Time
Job Summary
PMAC Service LLC is a mechanical contractor providing HVAC, refrigeration, and mechanical services across the Portland–Vancouver market — industrial, commercial, retail, residential, institutional, educational, and healthcare facilities. We're hiring an experienced commercial HVAC/refrigeration technician to serve as our senior technical resource: someone facilities staff and PMAC leadership can rely on for sound diagnosis, practical recommendations, and dependable follow-through, covering the full range of accounts across our broader client base. The role requires strong independent judgment, a collaborative approach to problem-solving, and the experience to mentor other technicians as the company grows.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of commercial HVAC/refrigeration experience.
- Ability to receive badging for high-security government, educational, and healthcare facilities, as required for client site access.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record for the past 3 years.
- EPA-608 Universal Certification.
- OSHA 10 certification (or certified within 14 Days of hire)
- Strong knowledge of electrical, refrigeration, mechanical, and HVAC control systems.
- Ability to diagnose and repair a wide range of mechanical, HVAC, and refrigeration equipment across healthcare, industrial, commercial, retail, residential, and institutional settings — including split systems, mini-splits, packaged rooftop units, walk-in coolers/freezers, chillers, and small-to-mid size cooling towers.
- Hydronics piping experience desired.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work on rooftops, ladders, and in confined spaces.
Preferred
- NATE Certification.
- Washington State O6A or O6B license.
- Oregon Limited Energy Technician Class A or Class B
- OSHA 30.
- Brazing certification (ORACCA or Other).
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC, refrigeration, and mechanical equipment, including belts and motorized component changeouts.
- Service a full range of mechanical accounts including industrial, commercial retail, healthcare, small commercial, residential, and school/institutional retrofit work.
- Ability to lead projects on site in service and install capacities.
- Braze refrigerant lines and diagnose/repair leaks.
- Perform inspections, maintenance, and install of hydronics piping.
- Conduct inspection walkthroughs, write clear recommendation reports, and estimate labor hours for proposed work.
- Chase down manufacturer tech support or OEM reps when troubleshooting requires it.
- Maintain meticulous documentation of hours worked, tasks performed, and parts used.
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Follow all OSHA and site-specific safety regulations, including site-specific requirements.
- Utilize safety equipment — fall protection, scaffolding, PPE — per provided instructions, and evaluate/monitor job sites for necessary and ongoing safety requirements.
- Maintain professionalism around clients, hospital staff, patients, and the public in an active healthcare environment.
- Participate in on-call rotation as needed.
This is a ground-floor opportunity with a growing company building out a broader base of recurring service accounts across the region. We're not looking to fill a seat — we want a technician whose experience and judgment help shape how PMAC operates and grows. You'll help build the systems and processes behind our service operations, with room to grow as PMAC expands its mechanical service work across the Portland–Vancouver market.
If you're a skilled commercial HVAC/refrigeration technician with 5+ years of experience who can receive badging for high-security government, educational, and healthcare facilities, we'd like to hear from you.
This posting is calibrated for someone who already has the full skill set, not someone building toward it. Compensation is scaled to experience, and a candidate who meets the preferred qualifications and can step in without a training ramp should expect to land at the top of the posted range.
