The Carpenter is a full-time Civil Service position in the Metro Parks and Recreation department. The primary duties of this position consist of performing skilled carpentry work building, maintaining, altering, and repairing buildings, furniture, and other related items
This position may be required to work after hours and/or weekends. May be required to work after weather related events to repair damage to facilities, structures or bridges that are essential for Metro Parks operational needs.

Metro’s Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of facilities and programs throughout Davidson County. Currently, the department oversees nearly 16,000 acres of open space, including 184 parks and 107 miles of greenway. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Eighth grade education and one (1) year of general carpentry experience.

LICENSES REQUIRED: Valid Driver License

Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
- Working knowledge of current Building Codes and ADA requirements

Experience performing skilled work on wood and related structures

Experience repairing and/or replacing doors, frames, and locks

Experience repairing and/or replacing roofs, floors, and walls

Experience reading and interpreting blueprints

Experience constructing sub-floors, rafters, and wall frames for new and existing structures

Experience operating machinery such as table saw, radial arm saw, drill press, planer, jointer, and router
