SOS Plumbing & Heating is a growing plumbing and heating contractor serving residential and light commercial customers throughout Rhode Island. We are seeking a motivated Apprentice Plumber or Apprentice Pipefitter who is eager to learn the trade, work hard, and build a long-term career with our team.
Minimum one year experience would be great, but not required, this is an excellent opportunity to receive hands-on training alongside experienced licensed professionals while working on a wide variety of plumbing and heating systems.
Our work includes:
- Residential service and repair
- Light commercial plumbing and heating
- Boilers and hydronic heating systems
- Water heaters and tankless systems
- Water filtration and well systems
- Drainage, gas piping, and remodeling projects
Position Overview
As an Apprentice, you will assist licensed plumbers and pipefitters with installations, repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting while developing the skills necessary to become a licensed professional. We are looking for someone who is dependable, mechanically inclined, professional, and eager to learn every day.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing and heating systems
- Work alongside licensed plumbers and pipefitters on residential and light commercial projects
- Learn to read blueprints, specifications, and installation instructions
- Gain hands-on experience cutting, threading, soldering, pressing, and assembling piping systems
- Assist with installing fixtures, boilers, water heaters, water treatment equipment, gas piping, and drainage systems
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles
- Keep job sites clean, organized, and safe
- Provide professional customer service while representing SOS Plumbing & Heating
Qualifications
- Strong desire to learn the plumbing and heating trade
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to work with hand and power tools
- Previous plumbing, HVAC, construction, or mechanical experience is helpful, but not required
- Ability to lift 75 pounds and work in physically demanding environments
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude
- Excellent communication skills and willingness to follow instructions
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Employment Requirements
All applicants must successfully pass:
- Criminal background check
- Rhode Island RMV driving record check
- Drug screening (pre-employment and random, if required)
Applicants with speeding violations, major moving violations, license suspensions, or at-fault accidents within the past three years will not be considered.
