Responsibilities
- Operate various commercial trucks including excavator, front loader and septic tank trucks with precision and adherence to traffic laws and safety protocols.
- Load, unload, and transport waste materials safely while complying with hazardous materials regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on trucks and equipment, utilizing mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot issues effectively.
- Drive route schedules efficiently, ensuring timely pickups and deliveries while managing traffic laws and state transportation regulations.
- Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of septic systems using manual tools and heavy lifting techniques.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with clients about services performed and addressing any concerns professionally.
- Follow all safety protocols during outdoor work activities, including hazardous materials handling and proper use of air brake systems.
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with tanker endorsement required; experience with manual transmission preferred.
- Proven experience operating dump trucks or septic tank trucks in municipal or solid waste management settings.
- Strong mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting vehicle issues and performing routine maintenance.
- Knowledge of traffic laws, DOT regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocol adherence.
- Demonstrated ability to lift heavy loads safely and perform physically demanding outdoor work regularly.
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on defensive driving techniques; previous delivery driver experience is a plus.
- Outstanding customer service skills to ensure positive interactions with clients during service calls.
- Familiarity with route driving, load & unload procedures, and solid waste management practices is highly desirable.
