Paulson-Cheek Mechanical (PCM) is seeking an experienced Certified Pipe Welder (FCAW/GMAW) to join our fabrication operation in Norcross, GA. If you take pride in producing high-quality welds, working safely, and being part of a professional team, we'd like to hear from you.
Current FCAW and/or GMAW welding certifications are required. Applicants who do not possess the required certifications will not be considered.
About the Opportunity
Paulson-Cheek Mechanical (PCM) is seeking an experienced Certified Pipe Welder to join our Prefabrication team. This role welds carbon steel piping assemblies for commercial and industrial mechanical construction. The ideal candidate has fabrication shop experience, current FCAW/GMAW certifications, experience welding with positioners, and a commitment to quality, productivity, and teamwork.
What You'll Do
· Perform pipe welding using FCAW and GMAW processes.
· Produce complete penetration MIG root welds.
· Weld carbon steel piping in accordance with WPS.
· Read fabrication drawings, spool drawings, weld symbols, and specifications.
· Perform welding using pipe positioners (1G position).
· Verify fit-up prior to welding.
· Produce high-quality welds with minimal rework.
· Operate welding equipment safely.
· Maintain a clean and organized work area.
· Work collaboratively with Pipe Fitters and the Shop Foreman.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
· Current FCAW and/or GMAW welding certification.
· Current AWS D1.1 (3G or 4G Structural) certification or equivalent.
· Experience producing full penetration MIG root welds.
· Previous fabrication shop experience.
· Experience welding carbon steel pipe.
· Experience welding pipe using positioners (1G).
· Ability to read fabrication drawings and welding symbols.
· Perform all welding in accordance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and company quality standards.
· Pass PCM weld test, background check, and drug screening.
· Recent documented welding certification activity within the last six months is preferred.

Physical Requirements
· Stand approximately 95% of the workday.
· Lift and carry 50 pounds or more.
· Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, and walking.
· Work in a fabrication shop with heat, sparks, fumes, and noise.
· Wear required PPE.
Work Schedule
· Monday–Thursday: 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM
· Friday overtime available when needed (not mandatory).
