Construction Project Manager -Drywall
We are a leading commercial drywall contractor seeking a driven, hands-on Project Manager to join our Hauppauge, NY office. This role is ideal for a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes full ownership of their projects, and is willing to roll up their sleeves to ensure successful execution from pre-construction through closeout.

The Project Manager is responsible for supporting and managing multi-million-dollar commercial drywall projects across the NYC metro area, working closely with senior leadership to track financial performance, schedule, coordinate, and manage client relationships. Success in this role requires resilience, accountability, and the ability to independently navigate challenges while keeping projects on track.

Key Responsibilities

Project Coordination & Team Support

Support and help guide Assistant Project Managers (APMs) and interns
Collaborate with Senior PMs and Operations leadership on project strategy and execution
Contribute to a team-oriented, accountable work environment
Own the full project lifecycle for multiple large-scale drywall projects, from turnover through closeout; track project milestones and progress, identifying, and escalating potential impacts.
Establish and maintain credibility in the field as a knowledgeable, organized team player
Coordinate with superintendents/foremen on production and overtime planning, making adjustments based on schedule updates
Participate in regular jobsite walkthroughs; attend and contribute to weekly project meetings
Work closely with General Contractors (GCs) and field teams
Identify potential gaps or conflicts early
Drive projects to successful completion, ensuring timely closeout.

Pre-Construction & Project Kickoff

Contract & Scope Review

Assist in reviewing contracts and agreements
Identify scope, exclusions, and risk areas
Review drawings, specifications, and project requirements
Partner with Estimating to successfully transition projects into operations, including scope alignment and budget establishment.

Schedule Review

Analyze construction schedules
Identify sequencing conflicts (MEP rough-in, inspections, fireproofing, etc.)
Ensure durations align with drywall production capabilities

Materials

· Complete material takeoffs and verify against estimates

· Issue purchase orders (POs)

· Coordinate with Purchasing for the most efficient delivery of materials to avoid double handling and delays

Financial Management

Maintain full budget responsibility for assigned projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and at or above margin expectations; updating cash flow sheets routinely
Track committed costs vs. budget; identifying risks early and implementing corrective actions.
Provide weekly project status updates to leadership, including financial performance, risks, challenges, and resource needs.
Price and manage change orders, clearly communicating scope impacts to clients and stakeholders.
Assist in preparing recap and cost reports

· Monitor productivity with guidance

· Support timely cash flow tracking and forecasting

Manage the submittal and RFI process.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
3-5 years of Project Management or Assistant Project Management experience in commercial construction; drywall experience strongly preferred.
Exposure to managing multiple projects or phases simultaneously.
Basic understanding of the ability to manage budgets, forecasts, and cost controls.
Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and adapt in a dynamic environment.
Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Strong mathematical and analytical skills; accounting knowledge is a plus.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong client and team relationships.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word); experience with construction software is a plus, including Bluebeam, Procore, Estimating Software (QB/OST, Oncenter, etcAbility to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Resilient, proactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

This role requires a combination of office and field work. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk long distances, sit, use hands and fingers to operate a computer or handle materials, reach with hands and arms, and communicate effectively.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is $90-$120K annually, based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated project performance.

In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for performance-based bonuses tied to project profitability and execution
