Specialized Construction Services (SCS), headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, is seeking experienced Traveling Carbon Steel Pipe Welders for an upcoming 10-week industrial project in Troutville, Virginia, just outside Roanoke, VA.
This is a traveling position, and qualified candidates from across the United States are encouraged to apply.
Project Details
- Project Location: Troutville, VA (near Roanoke, VA)
- Project Duration: Approximately 10 weeks
- Anticipated Start: Late August to September
- Schedule: 6 ten-hour shifts per week (60 hours)
- Pay: $34.00 to $36.00 per hour
- Per Diem: $130 per day, paid 7 days per week only if the full 60-hour work week is completed. Employees who do not complete the scheduled 60-hour work week will not receive Sunday per diem.
WELD TEST (REQUIRED)
All applicants must successfully pass the required weld tests before mobilization.

REQUIRED PERSONAL TOOLS
Applicants must provide the following tools:
- Full body harness
- 12" adjustable wrench
- Speed square
- Torpedo level
- Tool/gang box
- Sleever bar
- 8 lb beater
- 25' tape measure
- Chipping hammer
- Wire brush
- Leather sleeves
- Welding hood
- Stinger with 10' lead
Position Summary
The Pipe Welder will perform carbon steel pipe welding in accordance with approved welding procedures, project specifications, and quality standards while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform carbon steel pipe welding in accordance with project specifications.
- Read and interpret drawings and welding requirements.
- Produce quality welds while maintaining productivity and safety standards.
- Maintain welding equipment and required personal tools.
- Follow all company and site safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Qualifications
- Previous carbon steel pipe welding experience required.
- Must be able to pass the required pipe weld test.
- Must be able to work a 60-hour work week.
- Must be willing to travel to Troutville, Virginia.
- Must provide all required personal tools listed above.
Compensation
SCS offers:
- $34.36 to $36.59 per hour
- $130 per day per diem (paid 7 days per week only if full 60 hours are completed)
- 60-hour work weeks
- Approximately 10-week project
