Construction Project Manager Job Description
Position Summary
The Construction Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing residential construction projects from pre-construction through final completion. This position ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with company quality standards while maintaining excellent communication with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple construction projects simultaneously from contract execution through project closeout.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and timelines.
- Coordinate with homeowners, architects, designers, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors.
- Schedule and oversee subcontractors, suppliers, and company crews.
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress, workmanship, safety, and quality control.
- Identify potential project risks and proactively implement solutions.
- Review plans, specifications, permits, and construction documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Manage project budgets, approve invoices, and monitor costs to maintain profitability.
- Process and document change orders, ensuring owner approval before additional work begins.
- Maintain detailed project documentation, including daily logs, meeting notes, schedules, and project correspondence.
- Communicate project updates regularly with clients and company leadership.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable building codes, OSHA safety standards, and company policies.
- Coordinate inspections and obtain required approvals throughout construction.
- Resolve jobsite issues, customer concerns, and scheduling conflicts in a professional and timely manner.
- Complete project closeout documentation, punch lists, warranties, and final walkthroughs.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1-2 years of construction experience.
- Decent understanding of construction methods, building codes, and project sequencing.
- Must possess strong carpentry and general handyman skills to independently complete minor finish work and punch list items when needed.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction drawings.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and communication abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing plumbing, mechanical, electrical, or general contracting projects.
- Knowledge of estimating, budgeting, and excel spreadsheets
Hands-On Skills Required
The Project Manager must be willing and able to perform minor construction and finish work, including but not limited to:
- Installing bathroom accessories, mirrors, towel bars, toilet paper holders, robe hooks, and shelving.
- Installing cabinet hardware, door hardware, and other finish trim items.
- Completing final punch list items prior to project closeout.
- Minor drywall repairs, patching, sanding, and touch-up preparation.
- Caulking, sealing, and applying paint touch-ups as needed.
- Adjusting doors, cabinets, drawers, and hardware for proper operation.
- Assisting with appliance installation and final fixture placement.
- Performing basic troubleshooting and minor repairs to ensure projects are delivered in excellent condition.
- Operating common hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe jobsite while completing final project details.
- Willingness to perform any reasonable field task necessary to maintain project schedules, uphold quality standards, and deliver an exceptional customer experience.

Physical Requirements
