Project Manager, Architectural Millwork & Doors

Scobis Millwork + Design • Full-time • United States • $85,000 - $105,000 / year • 2m ago

About the role

The Project Manager is the single point of coordination on a project from the sales handoff through final punch list. Today a builder or an installer might reach three different people at Scobis to get one answer. This role consolidates it into one.

Much of the work is solving problems in real time. On a recent project, we were building a new front door and two rear exterior doors. Field measurement turned up water damage and rot in the existing openings. We do not perform repairs, so the Project Manager coordinated with the builder to get the repair scheduled, confirmed the work was completed correctly, determined whether the opening dimensions or door specifications needed to change, and released revised details to the shop before production began.

What you will own

Take handoff from sales on complex projects. Larger scopes, multiple openings, custom exterior work, and anything coordinating across trades routes to you.
Verify technical details before release to production, including thresholds, jamb types, swing and handing, glass, and hardware compatibility.
Coordinate drawing reviews, customer approvals, revisions, and release to production.
Verify field measurements in person. On a run of interior doors, you confirm the openings are accurate.
Inspect received materials for accuracy, completeness, and damage.
Own the install schedule end to end. Installers coordinate through you.
Work directly with builders, general contractors, designers, and homeowners.
Resolve field issues as they surface and keep projects moving.
Prepare and track change orders, invoicing, collections, and project closeout.
Maintain project records, deadlines, and approved changes in Innergy.
Supervise a Project Coordinator.

Sales owns customer selections and purchasing. Your responsibility is confirming the details are correct and keeping the project on schedule.

This role reports to the VP of Production. Expect 20 to 40 percent of your time in the field.

What success looks like

Customers understand where their project stands and what happens next. Installers arrive with complete information. Problems surface early rather than at delivery. Changes are approved and billed.

What you need

5 or more years in construction project management, architectural millwork coordination, or door and hardware project management. Candidates with 3 or more years of direct architectural door and millwork experience are encouraged to apply.
Ability to read architectural plans and shop drawings, and to catch errors in them.
Detail orientation strong enough to flag a wrong jamb depth before it reaches the shop floor.
Confidence working with builders and general contractors, including pushing back on schedules and site conditions.
Comfort using project management or ERP software.
Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Willingness to work on active construction sites, including unfinished spaces, ladders, and variable weather.

Preferred: material takeoff experience, familiarity with Innergy or HubSpot, OSHA 10 certification, and a background in door and hardware distribution or custom millwork production. A college degree is helpful but not required. Relevant industry experience matters more.

About Scobis

Scobis Millwork + Design builds custom wood doors and architectural millwork for luxury residential and high-end commercial projects. We work with homeowners, builders, architects, and designers to turn unique ideas into carefully designed, handcrafted products. Roughly 90 percent of our work is doors, in Sapele, White Oak, Accoya, Mahogany, and Walnut, produced in a 30,000 square foot climate-controlled facility to AWI standards. The work demands creativity, technical accuracy, and close coordination from the first conversation through installation.

We are growing, and our systems are still being built. Someone joining now helps shape how projects run rather than inheriting a fixed process. Growth also means hands-on effort and, during busy stretches or ahead of installation deadlines, additional hours.

Scobis Millwork + Design is an equal opportunity employer.
