Journeyman Electrician – Department Manager

We are seeking an experienced Master or Journeyman Electrician to step into a management and leadership role within our electrical department. This position is ideal for a licensed professional who not only excels in the field, but also brings the industry relationships, leadership mindset, and business acumen needed to grow and lead a successful department. Previuos experience in a mangerial role or sales is highly preferred. Compensation will be based on experience.

This role combines hands-on electrical expertise with team leadership, customer development, and strategic growth, offering a long-term career path for the right individual.

Position Overview

The Journeyman Electrician – Department Manager will be responsible for overseeing daily electrical operations while actively building and expanding the department’s customer base. This individual will mentor and develop electricians, uphold quality and safety standards, and serve as a key point of contact for customers, vendors, and internal leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the electrical department’s day-to-day operations
Perform and oversee residential and light commercial electrical work as needed
Build, maintain, and grow a strong customer base through existing industry relationships and new business development
Mentor, train, and support electricians to improve skill levels, productivity, and professionalism
Establish best practices, workflows, and quality control standards
Ensure compliance with NEC, local codes, and all safety regulations
Assist with estimating, job planning, scheduling, and resource allocation
Communicate effectively with customers, resolving concerns and ensuring satisfaction
Collaborate with company leadership on departmental goals, growth strategies, and performance metrics

Qualifications

Active Journeyman Electrician license (required)
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on electrical experience
Proven leadership or supervisory experience preferred
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain customer relationships
Strong industry contacts and the capacity to grow a departmental customer base
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to mentor, coach, and lead electricians at varying skill levels
Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
