About David Davis Communications

Founded in 1983, David Davis Communications is a commercial technology and low-voltage systems integrator serving businesses and organizations throughout the region. We provide consulting, installation, and support for video surveillance, access control, data networking, structured cabling, business communications, and related technology systems.

Position Overview

David Davis Communications is seeking a technically knowledgeable and highly organized Low Voltage Project Coordinator to coordinate commercial security and communications projects from sales handoff through field completion.

Our projects include video surveillance and IP camera systems, access control systems, structured cabling, data and networking infrastructure, and related commercial low-voltage systems. Individual projects may last from several hours to several weeks, and the Project Coordinator will manage multiple active jobs at different stages of completion.

The primary purpose of this position is to ensure that each project is clearly defined, properly prepared, and ready for the field installation team. This requires reviewing what was sold, asking detailed questions, identifying missing information or materials, coordinating resources, and giving technicians a complete and controllable plan before work begins.

Primary Responsibilities

Review approved estimates, contracts, scopes of work, drawings, equipment lists, labor allowances, and customer requirements before scheduling installation.
Meet with Sales to confirm exactly what was sold and ask the technical and operational questions necessary to create a complete project plan.
Identify missing parts, incomplete information, conflicting scope details, unrealistic labor assumptions, unclear customer responsibilities, and other issues before the project reaches the field.
Confirm site access, working hours, equipment locations, cable pathways, lift or permit needs, network connections, IP information, electrical requirements, programming responsibilities, and coordination with other contractors.
Develop a clear field handoff package containing the scope, schedule, contacts, equipment information, drawings, installation details, and other information technicians need to complete the work efficiently.
Coordinate material availability, equipment staging, customer scheduling, technician scheduling, and other project dependencies.
Manage multiple short-duration projects simultaneously while maintaining accurate status, documentation, follow-up dates, and outstanding-action lists.
Communicate project expectations and technical requirements to field technicians in clear, practical terms.
Serve as the coordination point among Sales, Operations, technicians, customers, vendors, manufacturer support teams, and other involved parties.
Respond to field questions, resolve missing-information issues, and coordinate changes when actual site conditions differ from the original scope.
Document scope changes and ensure additional or changed work is communicated and properly authorized before proceeding.
Monitor progress and promptly communicate delays, scheduling conflicts, material problems, customer issues, and other risks.
Maintain accurate project records and coordinate punch-list work, project closeout, customer acceptance, and completion documentation.

Required Qualifications

At least two years of paid experience with a commercial low-voltage contractor, electronic security integrator, structured-cabling contractor, electrical contractor, or closely related technology-services company.
Working technical knowledge in at least two of these areas: IP video surveillance, access control, structured cabling, or basic data-networking infrastructure; familiarity with the remaining areas is expected.
Ability to review a scope of work, equipment list, drawing, estimate, or contract and recognize missing, conflicting, or unclear information.
Ability to communicate effectively with experienced field technicians and understand the practical information they need before beginning an installation.
Strong organization and follow-through, with the ability to manage numerous projects, schedules, open items, and changing priorities simultaneously.
Strong written and verbal communication with customers, technicians, Sales, vendors, and management.
Demonstrated attention to detail and a willingness to ask precise questions rather than make unsupported assumptions.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn scheduling, estimating, project-management, and business-management software.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to regional customer locations as needed.

Preferred Experience

Previous work as a project coordinator, assistant project manager, estimator, lead technician, field supervisor, service coordinator, or installation technician.
Experience coordinating material procurement, field labor, subcontractors, customer schedules, change orders, and project closeout.
Familiarity with door hardware, network switches, firewalls, wireless networking, VoIP, paging, audiovisual, or other commercial technology systems.
Relevant manufacturer or industry certifications. Formal project-management credentials are helpful but are not required.

What Success Looks Like

A successful Project Coordinator ensures that technicians are not sent to a job with an incomplete scope, missing equipment, unclear customer expectations, or unresolved technical questions. Projects should reach the field with the details worked out, the required resources available, and all parties understanding what is expected.

The successful candidate will consistently catch problems early, communicate clearly, follow through on outstanding details, and help technicians complete projects correctly and efficiently, while ensuring customer satisfaction is number one.
