Position Summary
Vargas Electric LLC is seeking an experienced Journeyman Electrician to perform commercial electrical installations, repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting. The Journeyman Electrician is expected to perform quality electrical work in accordance with project plans, company standards, and applicable electrical and safety codes.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical blueprints, specifications, schematics, and one-line diagrams.
- Install conduit, wire, panels, disconnects, transformers, lighting, receptacles, and other electrical equipment.
- Perform underground, rough-in, and finish electrical work.
- Bend and install EMT, rigid conduit, PVC, and other raceway systems.
- Pull, terminate, and identify electrical conductors.
- Troubleshoot electrical circuits, equipment, lighting, and power systems.
- Perform electrical testing using appropriate meters and testing equipment.
- Follow the National Electrical Code (NEC), project specifications, and local requirements.
- Work under the direction of the Master Electrician and/or Foreman.
- Assist with directing apprentices and electrical helpers when assigned.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Properly use and care for company tools, vehicles, lifts, equipment, and materials.
- Follow Vargas Electric LLC safety policies and jobsite safety requirements.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, project issues, and material needs to the Foreman or Master Electrician.
- Accurately report work completed and labor hours as required.
- Perform additional electrical-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Valid Texas Journeyman Electrician License.
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Commercial electrical experience preferred.
- Ability to read and understand electrical plans and specifications.
- Knowledge of electrical installation and troubleshooting procedures.
- Ability to safely operate common electrical tools and equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a crew.
- Strong attention to quality and jobsite safety.
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
Physical Requirements
Employee must be able to:
- Lift and carry electrical materials, tools, and equipment.
- Work from ladders, lifts, scaffolding, and elevated areas.
- Bend, kneel, climb, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and jobsite conditions.
- Safely perform the physical duties normally associated with commercial electrical construction.
Safety Requirements
All employees are required to follow Vargas Electric LLC's Health & Safety Program, Standard Operating Procedures, OSHA requirements, jobsite rules, and all applicable electrical safety practices.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
