Channel Letter Fabricator

Position Overview
We are hiring an experienced Channel Letter Fabricator to build all types of illuminated and non-illuminated channel letters for our commercial signage projects. This role works closely with the design, CNC/production, and installation teams to make sure every set of letters is built to spec, wired correctly, and ready for installation. This is not an entry-level position; candidates must have hands-on channel letter fabrication experience.
Types of Channel Letters You Will Build
- Front-lit (face-lit) channel letters
- Back-lit (halo-lit / reverse) channel letters
- Combination front-lit and halo-lit channel letters
- Trimless channel letters
- Open-face channel letters (exposed LED or neon)
- Non-illuminated channel letters
- Flat-cut aluminum and dimensional letters
- Raceway-mounted and flush-mounted (direct-mount) letter sets
Core Responsibilities
- Fabricate all types of channel letters listed above from aluminum coil and sheet, including assembling backs and faces, and mounting trim cap.
- Read and interpret shop drawings to build letters that match approved designs.
- Install LED modules and wiring in illuminated letters, and test each set before it leaves the shop.
- Apply faces, vinyl, and finishing details, and fix any imperfections before release.
- Inspect finished letters for dimensional accuracy, light uniformity, and overall quality.
- Maintain fabrication tools and equipment, including rivet guns and hand tools, and report any issues that affect quality or safety.
- Follow all shop safety procedures, including proper PPE use and safe handling of metal and electrical components.
- Manage multiple active fabrication jobs and adjust priorities as deadlines shift.
Qualifications
- 2–3 years of experience fabricating channel letters in a sign shop or a closely related manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of every channel letter type listed above, including the differences in construction, lighting, and mounting.
- Working knowledge of LED lighting, power supplies, and basic low-voltage wiring for illuminated signs.
- Ability to read fabrication drawings and work from dielines without ambiguity.
- Comfortable with rivet guns, drilling, deburring, and other standard assembly tools.
- Detail-oriented, with a strong eye for finish and build quality.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
