About Benoure Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning
Benoure Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning is an established Vermont mechanical contractor serving residential and commercial customers throughout the region. The company provides plumbing, heating, air conditioning, residential construction, commercial construction, and related mechanical services.
Based in South Burlington, Benoure works on projects ranging from residential plumbing and HVAC installations to custom homes, multi-family developments, and larger mechanical construction projects throughout Vermont.
Role Overview
Benoure is seeking an experienced Residential Plumber and HVAC Installer to support its continued growth.
This is a hands-on field position focused primarily on residential plumbing and HVAC installation, including new construction and renovation work. The role is well suited to an experienced tradesperson who can work independently, coordinate effectively with project teams and other trades, and take ownership of high-quality installations from layout through completion.
Most projects are located within approximately one hour of Benoure’s South Burlington shop. Production housing projects are often closer to the office, while custom residential work may extend farther into areas such as Stowe and Warren. Crews may report either to the shop or directly to the jobsite depending on the project.
Responsibilities
- Install plumbing systems for residential new construction, renovation, and custom-home projects.
- Install and connect piping, fixtures, faucets, toilets, tubs, showers, water heaters, and related plumbing equipment.
- Install and service gas piping and gas-fired equipment when properly licensed or certified to perform the work.
- Assist with HVAC and mechanical system installation, piping, equipment, and related components.
- Perform plumbing and HVAC installations in accordance with applicable codes, project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and Benoure standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, plans, and mechanical layouts.
- Measure, cut, assemble, and install piping and related systems accurately and efficiently.
- Coordinate work with project managers, supervisors, contractors, customers, and other trades.
- Identify materials, equipment, and jobsite needs and communicate them to the appropriate supervisor or project manager.
- Troubleshoot installation issues and recommend practical solutions when field conditions differ from plans.
- Maintain accurate job and project documentation as required.
- Properly use and maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles when assigned.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
- Follow company safety policies, jobsite requirements, and applicable workplace safety standards.
- Provide guidance and direction to apprentices and less-experienced team members when appropriate.
- Maintain professional and courteous communication with customers, contractors, coworkers, and other trades.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Approximately four or more years of relevant plumbing and/or HVAC installation experience is preferred.
- Benoure is also open to considering a particularly strong third-year or experienced apprentice who demonstrates the technical ability, work ethic, and readiness to succeed in the role.
- Candidates at the Master Plumber level should have at least five years of relevant experience.
- Working knowledge of residential plumbing installation, piping systems, fixtures, equipment, and applicable plumbing practices.
- HVAC installation experience or mechanical aptitude applicable to residential HVAC systems.
- Ability to read plans, specifications, and mechanical drawings.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with project teams and other trades.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to safe work practices and quality workmanship.
- Ability to travel to jobsites throughout Benoure’s service area, generally within approximately 50–60 miles or one hour of the South Burlington shop.
Schedule and Travel
The position typically works an eight-hour day, with crew start times varying by project. Some crews begin as early as approximately 5:30 a.m., while others may begin at 6:00 or 7:00 a.m. Employees may start their day at Benoure’s South Burlington office or report directly to the jobsite depending on the assignment.
Travel is primarily within approximately one hour of the shop. Residential development projects are generally closer to South Burlington, while custom-home work may require travel to communities such as Stowe or Warren.
Compensation and Additional Considerations
Compensation ranges from $30.00 to $50.00 per hour, depending on experience, licensing, and the level of responsibility the candidate is prepared to assume.
A company vehicle may be available for an experienced candidate who is operating at the foreman level and independently running work. Vehicle eligibility will depend on experience and responsibilities.
Relocation assistance may be negotiable for an exceptionally strong candidate.
Hiring Process
Qualified candidates can expect a straightforward hiring process. Benoure typically conducts an in-person first interview and generally does not require a second interview.

Experienced plumbers, HVAC installers, and advanced apprentices interested in building their careers with an established Vermont mechanical contractor are encouraged to apply.
