Medix is seeking a hands-on Facilities Maintenance Technician to support its medical device and biologics manufacturing facility. This position performs general building repairs, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting to help maintain safe, reliable facility operations and minimize manufacturing downtime.
The ideal candidate is comfortable using hand and power tools, completing basic plumbing and electrical repairs, painting, and working independently. Candidates with hotel, apartment, commercial building, or manufacturing maintenance experience are encouraged to apply.

Perform daily inspections of interior and exterior facility areas and address maintenance needs.

Complete general building repairs, including painting, wall repairs, lighting replacement, fixture installation, and restroom maintenance.

Perform basic plumbing, electrical, and mechanical repairs within the scope of training and authorization.

Assist with scheduled preventive maintenance and complete maintenance records accurately and on time in accordance with the Quality System.

Respond to unexpected equipment or facility issues, troubleshoot problems, and communicate repair status to the facilities team.

Coordinate with outside service contractors and oversee maintenance activities as assigned.

Support maintenance of systems such as HVAC units, air handlers, condensers, cooling towers, refrigeration equipment, backup generators, lyophilizers, and reverse osmosis/deionized water systems.

Use hand and power tools safely while following established procedures and safety requirements.

Coordinate maintenance work around production schedules to minimize disruption.

Travel between Irvine and Carlsbad work sites and operate a company vehicle as needed, in accordance with company policy.

Support overtime, holiday work, variable shifts, and after-hours emergency response when required.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Technical or vocational training through school or on-the-job experience.

Hands-on facility maintenance skills, including basic repairs, painting, and safe use of hand and power tools.

Working knowledge of mechanical equipment and general building systems.

Computer literacy and the ability to complete maintenance documentation.

Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.

Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.

Reliable, coachable, and willing to learn, with a strong focus on safety and quality.

Ability to work collaboratively with manufacturing personnel, coworkers, and outside contractors.

Experience in manufacturing, medical devices, or another regulated environment.

Preventive maintenance experience.

Electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, HVAC, or control systems experience.

Relevant technical certifications.

This facility supports biologics and tissue-processing operations; candidates must be comfortable working in a building where human tissue is present.

Tools and required personal protective equipment are provided.

Steel-toe boots are required.
