American Star Total Home Comfort
Rolling Meadows, IL | Serving the Northwest Chicago suburbs
Full-time | In person | Monday–Friday, with overtime and occasional weekends as needed
Make every space a comfortable place
American Star Total Home Comfort is a family-owned, second-generation HVAC company that has served the Northwest Chicago area since 1983. We’re looking for an entry-level HVAC Service Technician who is ready to build a career in residential heating and air conditioning. If you have a year or two of hands-on HVAC experience—or HVAC training and a strong desire to learn—we’ll help you continue developing your skills with a supportive team and ongoing training.
We take pride in doing quality work, treating customers with respect, and standing behind our service with a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
What you’ll do
- Assist with residential HVAC service, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs under the guidance of experienced technicians.
- Help inspect furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, boilers, thermostats, and indoor air quality equipment.
- Support system start-ups and verify that equipment is operating safely and correctly.
- Help identify equipment issues and communicate findings clearly to the lead technician and customer.
- Explain completed work and basic system operation to customers in a friendly, professional manner.
- Help customers understand preventative maintenance options, including our maintenance program, when appropriate.
- Pick up parts and supplies from local vendors as needed.
- Keep the work area, vehicle, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and safe.
- Follow company procedures, manufacturer instructions, and applicable safety requirements.
- Arrive on time, be dependable, and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Look for opportunities to improve workmanship, efficiency, and the customer experience.
What we’re looking for
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Approximately 1–3 years of HVAC experience preferred; residential service or maintenance experience is a plus.
- HVAC trade school or other formal HVAC training preferred.
- EPA Section 608 certification preferred; willingness to obtain certification is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and a reliable driving record required.
- Basic understanding of HVAC systems, hand tools, and safe work practices.
- Strong attendance, punctuality, communication, and customer-service skills.
- A willingness to learn, take direction, and grow into greater responsibility.
- Ability to work full-time, with overtime and occasional weekend work as needed.
Military-experienced candidates are encouraged to apply. This is also a good opportunity for someone entering or returning to the workforce and building a career in the trades. Employment eligibility and job duties are subject to applicable age and safety requirements.
Compensation and benefits
- Hourly base pay plus a strong performance-based spiff program. For motivated technicians, spiff earnings can represent a significant part of total compensation and may exceed base hourly earnings, depending on performance and eligible work completed.
- Spiffs are earned under the company’s compensation plan; details, eligibility, and payout terms will be explained during the hiring process.
- We value honest recommendations, quality workmanship, and customer trust—never high-pressure selling.
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) with company matching
- Life insurance
- Paid time off
- Bonus opportunities
- Ongoing training and support from experienced HVAC professionals
- A stable, family-owned company with more than four decades of experience
Benefit waiting periods may apply. Benefits are available to eligible full-time employees.
