Job Title: Fire Protection Engineer
Location: Anaheim CA 92802
Duration: 24+ months contract (Possible extension)

Work Schedule: Anaheim CA 92802, (5 days onsite per week) 5 days per week, 7am - 4pm (flexible) 40 hours a week.

Pay Range: $90 - $98 per hour on W2

About the Role:
We are seeking a licensed Fire Protection Engineer (PE) to support the design, analysis, and implementation of fire and life safety systems for large-scale facilities in Anaheim, CA.
The engineer will be responsible for developing fire protection system designs, ensuring compliance with NFPA, ICC, IBC, OSHA, and other applicable codes and standards. The role includes performance-based design analysis, smoke control and egress modelling, preparation of construction documents using AutoCAD/Revit, and providing technical guidance during construction and commissioning phases

Key Responsibilities:
Roles & responsibilities:

Design and develop fire protection systems including fire sprinklers, fire alarms, suppression systems, and smoke control systems for commercial and large-scale facilities.
Ensure code compliance with NFPA, IBC, IFC, OSHA, ASTM, and other applicable building and fire safety standards.
Perform performance-based design analysis, including fire and smoke modelling, egress calculations, and alternate means and methods evaluations.
Prepare and review technical drawings and documentation using AutoCAD and Revit, including construction documents and engineering calculations.
Provide on-site technical support during construction, inspections, testing, and commissioning to ensure proper system installation and functionality.
Lead and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, contractors, and project managers, to deliver safe and compliant fire protection solutions.

Experience required:

Professional Engineer License (preferably in Fire Protection Engineering; CA PE required for Senior roles).
Experience in design, construction, and/or consulting of fire protection systems
Full awareness and working knowledge of Building & Fire Codes and NFPA Codes & Standards.
Proven experience with performance-based design and alternate means and methods approaches.
OSHA compliance experience and familiarity with codes and standards development (NFPA, ASTM, ICC, CFR, etc.).
Excellent communication skills and willingness to travel for project support.
Working knowledge and experience with AutoCAD and Revit.
Ability to lead project design teams.

Preferred Experience:

NFPA – CFPS Certification.
Master’s Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field and/or MBA.
Specific experience with theme parks, resort hotels, and mixed-use facilities.
Mechanical Plumbing experience with backflow prevention analysis.
Knowledgeable in the use and application of computer modelling tools for fire and smoke spread and timed egress analysis.
Experience with codes and standards development, including committee involvement.
Experience with fire testing and regulatory application of fire test methods to building materials.

Qualifications Required:

Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field from an ABET-accredited university.

Qualification Preferred:

Master’s in FPE or related field preferred.

License:

Professional Engineer License (preferably in Fire Protection Engineering; CA PE required for Senior roles).
