Overview

Duties

Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports, ensuring accuracy and adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Manage general ledger accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing processes.
Conduct detailed account analysis, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations to maintain precise financial records.
Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments while maintaining strong vendor relationships.
Support regulatory reporting requirements by preparing documentation in compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) standards and other applicable laws.
Assist with internal audits, external audits, and SOX compliance initiatives to uphold transparency and accountability.
Utilize advanced accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms for efficient financial data management.
Perform financial analysis including cash flow forecasting, budgeting support, and variance analysis to guide strategic decision-making.
Contribute to the development of financial reports that interpret complex data for stakeholders at all levels.
Mentor junior team members in technical accounting practices and best procedures to foster continuous learning.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
Proven experience in corporate accounting, governmental accounting or non-profit accounting environments.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, SEC regulations (including securities law), and regulatory reporting standards.
Hands-on experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft or similar platforms.
Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements and internal control processes.
Expertise in technical accounting areas including accruals, journal entries, account reconciliation, and financial statement preparation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel along with the ability to interpret complex financial data effectively.
Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail; ability to perform balance sheet reconciliation and account analysis accurately.
Strong understanding of debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping principles, and financial concepts such as budgeting and forecasting.
Effective communication skills for financial report writing and interpretation; ability to mentor team members is a plus.
