Overview
We are seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Fabricator / Mechanic to join our team in the growing recycling equipment business. In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, welding, and repairing sheet metal components and structural mechanical systems across various construction and manufacturing projects. Your expertise will help ensure that projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards. Responsibilities

Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately fabricate sheet metal parts and assemblies.
Use hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, and welding equipment—including MIG, TIG, FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and welding—to cut, shape, and assemble metal components.
Perform welding operations adhering to ASME codes & standards to ensure strong, durable joints.
Operate fabrication machinery such as roll formers, shears, and machining tools to produce precise parts.
Conduct rigging, pipe threading, and assembly tasks for ductwork, mechanical systems, or structural components on construction sites or manufacturing facilities.
Utilize calipers, micrometers, schematics, and basic math skills to measure and verify dimensions throughout fabrication processes.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety protocols related to construction site work, crane operation, forklift handling, and power tool usage.
Assist with installation tasks including rigging and assembly of fabricated components on-site or in workshops.
Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues quickly and implement effective solutions during fabrication or installation phases.

Experience

Proven experience working with sheet metal fabrication and/or mechanical systems.
Hands-on experience with MIG welding, TIG welding, FCAW welding processes; familiarity with welding preferred. Candidates will be tested.
Knowledge of blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and technical drawings essential for precise fabrication.
Skilled in operating hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brakes, machining equipment, forklifts, and rigging gear.
Ability to perform basic math calculations necessary for measurements and material estimations.
Mechanical knowledge related to ductwork fabrication, installation, pipe threading, soldering techniques, and assembly procedures.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 - $34.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
