HVAC Estimator — Large Commercial Projects

About Us

We are a commercial mechanical contracting company specializing in large-scale HVAC projects for office buildings, industrial facilities, healthcare, education, and government clients. As we continue to expand our portfolio, we are seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Estimator to support our bid efforts and pre-construction planning.

Key Responsibilities

Review and interpret commercial mechanical drawings, specifications, and engineered plans.
Perform detailed quantity take-offs for equipment, ductwork, piping, insulation, controls, and specialized mechanical systems.
Develop comprehensive labor and material cost estimates based on project scope, schedule, and constraints.
Solicit, review, and compare vendor and subcontractor quotes, including equipment, sheet metal, piping, controls, and specialty systems.
Prepare detailed bid proposals, RFP responses, and budget estimates for negotiated and hard-bid projects.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and the executive team to ensure accuracy and consistency across all estimates.
Participate in value-engineering exercises to optimize cost efficiency while maintaining design intent.
Maintain updated cost data, historical pricing, and vendor/subcontractor databases.
Attend pre-bid meetings, walkthroughs, site surveys, and scope clarification sessions as required.

Qualifications

3–5+ years of experience estimating commercial or industrial HVAC/mechanical projects.
Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems, including RTUs, AHUs, chillers, boilers, VRF, hydronic systems, cooling towers, ERVs, controls, and ventilation.
Ability to read and interpret complex commercial blueprints, specifications, and mechanical schedules.
Proficiency with estimating software, digital take-off tools, and standard spreadsheets.
Knowledge of NY mechanical codes, construction practices, and commercial project workflows.
Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to meet tight bid deadlines.
Experience with projects ranging from mid-size to large-scale multi-million-dollar installations is a strong plus.

Pay: $38.00 - $65.00 per hour
