Fire Alarm Technician, is responsible for performing installation of fire alarm systems, in a commercial environment. The Technician also provides field service to customers in the areas of installation, maintenance and repair. The position may require frequent travel, which could include overnight stays.

Functions

Experienced Technicians (rate $25 to $35 or Prevailing):

Analyze blue prints, schematics, and drawings of fire and security alarm and/or other related electrical systems for the purpose of determining the efficient installation of a new or upgraded system.
Coordinate with other trades for the purpose of completing projects in an efficient and timely manner.
Install components and perform all necessary tasks, such as drilling holes for cabling and accessing all locations to ensure optimal wiring layouts.
Install all wiring to connect system components, complying with code, customer, and safety requirements.
Test and inspect systems to ensure all components are performing as they should and complying with safety requirements.
minimum of two years experience working with fire alarm systems.

Entry Level Technicians ($18 to $24):

Ability to understand work layout designs as directed by the Foreman/Lead Person; must be able to work independently and with a team.
Basic electrical background and the ability to use hand tools.
Willingness to be trained and follow directions.
The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
Capable of handling oneself in a professional and respectful manner.
Assist with system installations per code requirements.

Skills, Requirements, Abilities

· High school diploma or equivalent.

NICET Preferred

· low voltage experience

· Valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements

· Must be able to navigate construction sites consisting of uneven terrain, climbing stairs and ladders, and working at heights.

· Must be able to lift objects up to 50 pounds.

· Must be able to push and pull up to 100 pounds.

· The ability to regularly talk and hear.

· Able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, and balance.

· The ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.

· Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to focus.

A Fire Alarm Technician, is considered a safety-sensitive position. Employees are required to wear common protective clothing and use proper safety equipment (safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, hard hat, etc.).

Pay: $45,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
