Position Summary

Zehnder America is seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Service Technician to support our growing installed base of high-performance ventilation and indoor air quality systems. This role is critical to ensuring customer satisfaction, system reliability, and brand reputation.

The Service Technician will handle incoming service calls, perform on-site and remote diagnostics, complete repairs and commissioning work, and serve as a trusted technical resource for homeowners, contractors, engineers, and distributors. The ideal candidate combines strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with excellent communication skills and a professional, solutions-oriented approach to customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Service & Field Support

Respond to service calls related to Zehnder ventilation and indoor air quality systems, including diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance
Perform on-site service visits, system inspections, commissioning, and performance verification
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, airflow, and controls-related issues using schematics, manuals, and diagnostic tools
Complete repairs involving motors, fans, controls, sensors, wiring, duct connections, and related components
Provide remote technical support via phone, email, and video calls when on-site service is not required
Assist with warranty evaluations, parts replacement recommendations, and service documentation
Support installation troubleshooting for contractors during and after system installation
Ensure all service work complies with company standards, manufacturer specifications, and applicable codes

Customer Interaction & Communication

Serve as a primary point of contact for customers experiencing technical issues
Communicate clearly and professionally with homeowners, contractors, engineers, architects, and distributors
Explain technical issues and solutions in a way that is understandable to non-technical customers
Set appropriate expectations regarding timelines, solutions, and follow-up actions
Maintain a calm, respectful, and solution-focused demeanor, even in high-pressure or escalated situations
Build trust and reinforce Zehnder America’s commitment to quality, performance, and customer satisfaction

Documentation & Reporting

Accurately document all service activities, findings, repairs, and recommendations in service management systems
Complete service reports, work orders, and warranty documentation in a timely manner
Track parts usage and communicate replacement needs to internal teams
Provide feedback to engineering, sales, and product teams regarding recurring issues or field observations

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

Work closely with internal teams including Technical Support, Engineering, Sales, and Operations
Participate in training sessions to stay current on Zehnder products, controls, and system updates
Contribute to the development of service procedures, troubleshooting guides, and best practices
Represent Zehnder America professionally at job sites, customer locations, and industry events when required

Required Qualifications

Technical Skills & Experience

Strong technical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical systems
Experience with HVAC, ventilation systems, controls, or building systems (HRV/ERV experience strongly preferred)
Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation
Hands-on experience using diagnostic tools such as multimeters, airflow measurement devices, and basic hand/power tools
Comfort working with low-voltage electrical systems and electronic controls
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites as needed

Customer Service & Communication

Proven ability to work directly with customers in a service or field-based role
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-first mindset
Ability to remain professional, patient, and solution-oriented in challenging situations
Confidence communicating with both technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications

Formal training or certification in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, or building systems
Experience servicing high-performance or energy-efficient building systems
Familiarity with residential and light commercial construction practices
Knowledge of building codes, energy standards, and indoor air quality principles
Experience using CRM or service management software

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $76,000.00 per year
