Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Carpenter to join our deck building team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for woodworking, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to building high-quality decks for our customers. This role involves constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures made of wood, composite, PVC, aluminum and other materials, working both independently and as part of a team. The position requires working outdoors in various weather conditions and the physical ability to lift heavy materials.

Responsibilities:

Measure, cut, and shape wood, composite, PVC, and other decking materials.
Construct, install, and repair decks, pergolas, porches, and other outdoor structures.
Ensure company trucks and trailers are equipped with necessary parts, tools, and resources.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to understand project requirements.
Take measurements and calculate material needs accurately.
Ensure decks are level, compatible, and structurally sound.
Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean work environment.
Assist in the installation of exterior features, such as railings and stairs.
Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Interact professionally with customers, maintaining Northern Craft Building’s reputation.
Ensure all decks are built in compliance with engineering specifications and regulatory code requirements.

Qualifications:

3+ years of experience in construction, carpentry and/or deck building.
Experience with composite and PVC decking is a plus.
High school diploma or GED preferred; trade school experience is a plus.
Must be 18 years or older.
Clean driving record with the ability to regularly operate a company vehicle.
Proficient in using hand and power tools (drill, saw, hammer, etc.).
Ability to read technical documents and drawings.
Willingness to follow safety guidelines.
Good understanding of basic math, including tape measures and angles.
Able to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks/lift heavy materials.
Reliable transportation to the office and/or job sites.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
