Position Summary

The Handyman/Carpenter specializes in the final touches of carpentry projects, focusing on installing trim, molding, cabinetry, and other detailed woodwork that enhances the aesthetic and functional aspects of residential and commercial spaces.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Reads and interprets blueprints, ensuring accurate measurements and cuts.
Installs high-quality finishes, and conducts repairs or adjustments to existing woodwork.
Performs general maintenance and repair tasks, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry work.
Installs, repairs, or replaces doors, windows, cabinets, countertops, flooring, and other fixtures and fittings.
Constructs and assembles structures, frameworks, and built-in furniture using a variety of materials and tools.
Measures, cuts, and shapes wood, metal, and other materials according to project specifications and blueprints.
Installs drywall, insulation, and siding, and applies finishes such as paint, stain, or varnish.
Adheres to safety protocols and regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of tools and equipment.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Formal apprenticeship or vocational training in carpentry is highly desirable.
Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent manual dexterity, and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency in carpentry techniques, including framing, finishing, and cabinetry.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical drawings.
Effective communication skills for interacting with clients, contractors, and team members

Prolonged periods stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods in various weather conditions.
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
Dexterity to operate hand and power tools, restoration equipment, and machinery safely.
