Job Summary: Responsible for the successful installation of high-end custom residential HVAC systems. Must be able to manage multiple jobs and phases simultaneously while maintaining Cardinal’s standards for quality, craftsmanship, and customer experience. Work closely with the New Construction Manager or Retrofit Manager, Leads, Installers, and Installation Coordinator to maintain scope, schedule, and quality expectations.

Responsibilities:

Provide insights into potential installation challenges or material needs on upcoming projects.
Submit equipment and material requests and coordinate with purchasing and scheduling to maintain efficiency and minimize downtime.
Serve as a hands-on technical resource in the field. Support Leads and Installers in resolving challenges in a timely and positive manner.
Achieve or surpass performance objectives related to productivity, quality, service, and safety on each project. Participate in on-site coordination and inspections to ensure work is installed per plan, code, and Cardinal standards.
Anticipate challenges on projects and communicate early to avoid issues and delays.
Ensure timely acquisition and staging of materials to minimize jobsite interruptions and unnecessary shop runs.
Complete punch list items before leaving each job. Utilize project phase checklists to confirm all required work is complete.
Layout, design, and install various HVAC systems including ductwork, piping, equipment setting, and system startup. Continuously look for labor-saving installation practices that improve quality and efficiency.
Work side-by-side with Leads, Installers, and Apprentices to support training and uphold Cardinal installation standards.
Upon project completion, provide feedback to Leads, Supervisors, and Sales regarding challenges, improvements, and successes.

Administration:

Ensure all installations meet applicable code requirements. Coordinate with inspectors as needed to support successful inspections.
Maintain accurate and timely job documentation including timesheets, job packets, and notes.
Coordinate with warehouseman as needed regarding returns, warranty, delivery, etc.
Ensure your job packets, timesheets, and other administrative documentation are clear, accurate, and timely.

General:

Provide exceptional customer service with the goal of building long-term relationships with homeowners, builders, and partners.
Communicate clearly and proactively to avoid surprises. Return calls and messages in a timely and professional manner.
Contribute to a positive team environment and uphold Cardinal’s culture and standards.
Follow all Cardinal policies and procedures.
Maintain clean, safe handling and storage of tools, materials, and equipment.
Communicate daily with your Lead or Construction Supervisor regarding progress and needs.
Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times.
Keep your vehicle stocked and organized. Maintain a clean and professional van.

Required Skills

Excellent technical knowledge of the HVAC trade specialty.
Ability to successfully coordinate, layout, install, trim, and fire off a complete job from start to finish, regardless of professional specialty.
Ability to coordinate with other trades to reduce conflict and maximize job efficiency.
Must possess an understanding of all systems and equipment and be able to accurately test/ diagnose system performance/troubleshoot reported system issues and make the appropriate corrections.
Ability to read and understand architectural and technical drawings, blueprints, and communicate information to the build team.
Experience with ductwork, fuel gas piping, refrigeration practices, and low-voltage HVAC controls. Sheet metal fabrication experience is a plus.
Working knowledge of applicable building codes and installation best practices.
Maintain currency of all applicable licenses and certifications.
Ability to safely operate hand and power tools associated with the trade.

Physical / Other Requirements

Must be physically fit and capable of routine lifting of up to 50 lbs. with occasional weights over 100 lbs.
Must have a valid Washington State Driver’s License and be able to drive to job sites.
Must be able to walk, bend, and crawl for on-site duties.
You must be able to clearly communicate in person, in writing, and on the phone.
Must be able to perform the responsibilities of the job description.

Pay: $30.00 - $60.00 per hour
