SAW OPERATOR

JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY: Responsibilities include but not limited to, using manual and automatic industrial saws, measuring critical dimensions, working in a fast-paced environment, calculate the best usage of material, and other duties as required.

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

Ability to calculate the best usage out of material to get the minimal drop
Perform first off checks to make sure parts match/align to prints
Ensure all products adhere to the production specifications of the customer
Uses measuring instruments as necessary including, but not limited to tape measuring tape and micrometer.
Read and interpret blue prints and process sheets
Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears or other metal straightening and bending machines
Completes paperwork and inputs information into the computer system, updating inventory.
Sets up and operates saw, selecting proper feeds and speeds, adjusting as needed. Maintains necessary coolant concentration, cleaning or replacing coolant as required.
Inspects the quality of the material during and after the cut to make sure the piece is square.
Maintain safe work practices
Report any hazards to the Plant Manager or Supervisor immediately so corrective action can be taken.
Maintains a clean and safe work environment and abides by all plant safety regulations and work rules. Performs safety inspections on cranes, chains, slings and magnets.
Assist in training & mentoring newer employees
Present a professional image of Custom Steel Supply, and a personal commitment to the safety and well-being of all employees.
Participate in continuous improvements, 5S and 8 Waste initiatives, including and not limited to processes, production flow etc.
Practice safe and proper use of machinery and tools
Perform all other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to Read / interpret drawings / blueprints
Ability to read a tape measure
Understand basic tool functions
Hand eye coordination
Physically capable of lifting in excess of 50lbs
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Must have steel toe boots
Must have reliable transportation
Must be able to work any 3 shifts and overtime when needed

V. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

High School diploma with some post-HS education or equivalent job experience required.
College/technical degree or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
2+ years of experience in a manufacturing facility.

VI. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

2nd Shift ( Shift premium included)
All candidates must successfully clear all pre-hire Background and Drug Screenings.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
