Structural Steel Welder – 2nd Shift

About the Role

Speedway Steel is hiring experienced Structural Steel Welders for our 2nd shift fabrication operation. This is a production welding role — you'll be running flux-core wire all shift on structural steel components for commercial and industrial projects. If you can burn wire and produce quality welds consistently, we want to talk.

Responsibilities

Weld structural steel members including beams, columns, base plates, connection plates, and misc. steel
Operate FCAW (flux-core) equipment running 0.045 and 1/16 wire
Weld in all required positions — flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead
Follow weld procedure specifications (WPS) and maintain proper heat input and travel speed
Inspect own welds for quality, appearance, and dimensional accuracy
Comply with AWS D1.1 structural welding standards
Keep equipment in good working order — report wire feed issues, tip wear, or gun problems to the foreman
Maintain a clean work area and follow all safety and PPE requirements

Qualifications

Required

2+ years of structural steel welding experience in a fabrication shop
Hands-on experience with FCAW using 0.045 and/or 1/16 flux-core wire
Ability to weld in multiple positions and maintain consistent weld quality at production pace
Ability to read basic weld symbols and shop tickets
Must pass a flux-core weld certification test prior to hire

Preferred

AWS D1.1 certification
Experience in an AISC-certified fabrication shop
OSHA 10 certification

Schedule & Compensation

Shift: Monday – Friday | 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM
Pay: Competitive hourly rate based on experience
